Writer's submission guidelines
LINK Newsmagazine is a free bi-monthly publication created to provide a communication channel and gateway for the local African and Caribbean community of Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge , & Guelph .
We are interested in articles, queries, story ideas, and photographs that has to do with the local African and Caribbean community of Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge , Guelph , and area. We prefer articles that present the positive aspects of life in our community. Subject matter includes culture, community, social issues, economic issues, family issues, educational issues, and politics.
Potential writers should familiarize themselves with LINK's content by reading a copy or two before submitting material.
Here are the types of articles we're looking for:
• Articles that provide knowledge and information on relevant topics
• Articles that get right to the point
• Articles that stir dialogue and response
• Articles with a strong point of view
• Articles that come from the heart
• Well-researched, balanced articles
• Inspiring profiles and success stories
• Poetry
• Stories about adjusting to life in Canada

The length of an article is not a significant consideration. Although we recommend 1 to 2 double-spaced typewritten pages (or 250 - 500 words), do not let length be a limitation. Say what you have to say as succinctly as possible. We reserve the right to edit any submitted materials for publication.
Photos, drawings, or diagrams should accompany a submission whenever possible. Digital photos should have a resolution of at least 200dpi to 300dpi.
Please include a brief biographical sketch at the end of your submission so that we can print it if your article is used. Also include your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address with your submission. (See Article Submission form )
Please do not send us an article that you have already submitted elsewhere unless you have had the article returned or have heard that it is not going to be used, or you have permission to publish it elsewhere. Please, also, do not send book-length manuscripts.
Submission
Please do not send attachments . Submissions with attachments will not be opened. Send email submissions, with the word “Article Submission” included in the subject line, with the complete text of your article in the body of the email, to submissions@linknewsmagazine.ca or mail to LINK Newsmagazine, 5-420 Erb Street W., Suite 452 , Waterloo , ON , N2L 6K6
If you are hand-writing your article, please print clearly.
By submitting your work for consideration, you are giving LINK Newsmagazine permission to publish your work in both print and electronic media. Upon submission, you confirm that it is your work and that you are the legal copyright holder of the submitted work. We will not be held responsible for any and all copyright disputes or actions that may result because of copyright infringement issues.
Acceptance
Please do not assume your work has been accepted for publication. Even when an article is selected for an issue, we may not print it if there's a lack of space. As a result, even if we have expressed an interest in, or given you the go-ahead on a proposed article, we cannot guarantee its publication. We appreciate your understanding of this creative process.
Articles accepted for publication may be edited, and we may consult with you on any changes (by email, telephone, or in a face-to-face meeting). However, last-minute cuts without notification may be necessary because of space limitations. For substantial alterations, stories will be returned to writers for revisions or rewrites. We will read and respond to articles within four to six weeks after receiving them. Please be patient .
We will not accept submissions containing use of bad language or other types of unacceptable subject matter (based on the sole discretion of the Editor).
Please keep a copy of your article. We do not return articles.
