Steelpan Yard-- with Panwaves and Starlite Steelbands.
Learn about pan, play a bit and dance a bit.
The History of Steelpan display by Clyde Dookie of Panwaves Steelband.
Children’s Carnival Parade -- Come join the costume parade! Bring your own or borrow one of ours. We also have some adult costumes this year (it looks great over black clothing). Also, New this year, visit with one of Caribana's King of the Band costume.
Limbo Contest
Drumming Tent -- Bring your drum and percussion instruments. Join the jam.
Drumming Workshop by Jason Cole in collaboration with Gerima Harvey Fletcher -- (2pm)
Jason Cave brings over 19 years of drumming experience. He played with Toronto's Root Drummers for two years and has
been a lead drummer with Ijo Vudu African Dance Co. for the past year and a half.
Drum and play along with Waleed Abdulhamid Kush as he plays the drum and Balimbo. Visit the artists page for more about Waleed. --(5:45pm)
Waleed will teach about master rhythms from the Normad, the Sahara, the Ancient Nubia and the Nile.
Come enjoy rythmns and songs from the Nile to Timbuktu and the Sahara to the red sea.
Ethiopian & Eritrean Coffee Cermony -- by M & T East African Cuisine (4pm)
Fun Races for children -- 3-Legged, Lime & spoon, potato, sack race
Storytelling -- by Florence Juma
